Since its founding in 1980, Armenias of Colorado (AOC) has devoted much of its efforts to raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide – the 1915-1923 crime that killed more than half of all Armenians and resulted in the loss of the greater part of the Armenian homeland. AOC genocide awareness efforts have resulted in creating a memorial gaden on state capitol grounds, where an annual commemoration takes place every April, and organizing dozens of educational events throughout Colorado.
Here are THREE WAYS TO LEARN about the Armenian Genocide:
For an introduction, visit History. Detailed information is available on the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute website.
Pay a visit to the Colorado State Capitol Armenian Genocide Memorial Garden in downtown Denver (see it on Google Maps) or plan a trip to modern Armenia – the small but beautiful part of the Armenian homeland that survived the genocide due to Russian occupation.
